What is this?
The symbol originally comes from a carving tradition found mainly in Transylvania, and it also appears as an embroidery pattern on textiles. I chose it for its symbolic meaning: protection.
According to legend, owl symbols guard people as they sleep, ensuring that no evil beings can approach the house under their watch. In shamanic traditions, the owl – as a bird – serves as a messenger between worlds, able to pass between the realm of the living and the dead, visiting both the upper and the underworld.
